Artbooking Fun!

Wow!  I am having fun crafting with my Cricut  Artbooking   cartridge.  I am using it for pages that will lovingly be placed in albums chronicling my family's life.
"Little One" by Gayle Piron, papercraftingwithgayle.blogspotcom ~~ papercraftingwithgayle.ctmh.com

On my "Little One" layout, I wanted to keep things very soft and simple to not overpower the beauty and joy of a newborn and his family.  I framed each of the photos and the journaling box, along with the outer edges of the two page layout to bring the pages together.  The overlay, titles, words and bow/ribbon are all images found in the Artbooking Cricut cartridge.  Papers used: White Daisy, Colonial White, Sapphire, and Crystal Blue cardstock.

Have a wonderful day!

Taming the Scrap Paper Scrap Stash -- Update!

While going through my stash, and organizing it into the 10 separate drawers of my rolling cart, my Cricut Expression arrived!  Yippee!  Since it recommends using less expensive papers while learning to operate, I thought -- great idea for some of my larger paper scraps!  I made great little labels to identify my newly organized stash of scrapbook paper pieces. My paper name tags are just taped on at this time.  I'm thrilled with the results.  I was able to learn (still more to learn -- always more to learn in every aspect of life!) how to operate my Cricut (basics!), use some fun scraps, and enjoy the end results of sorting through my papers!

How are your crafty creations coming along?  Using up your scrap stash?

Have a wonderful day!  Thanks for visiting!

Piles of Scraps!

Wow!  Once in a while we need to step back from the creative process and sort through the piles of scraps that have accumulated.  LOL!  Where did they all come from!  Where to begin?

I decided to put on some fun music to keep me motivated and put all the scraps I had stashed here and there together.  Looking at the piles, I decided that my new 10-drawer rolling cart, which my wonderful husband bought me when I started my Papercraftingwithgayle.ctmh.com business, was ready to see its new purpose.

With sticky notes to temporarily identify the drawers, it was time to begin!  Some pieces were tossed, but the vast majority were kept and divided accordingly--Solid, Patterned, Muted, Textured, Sticky-Backed, Border Strips, Fabric/Felted, Photo, Bling, and Mulberry.

Now I am making "drawer-plates" to identify the contents of each drawer, using scraps, of course! I'll show you these later.  :-)  I think we will start a "Make it From Your Scraps!" challenge and share our creations with one another.

Sorting through the paper pieces was a trip down memory lane!  From pieces that formed scrapbook pages of family outings, visits, birthdays, new babies to dearly departed, hand crafted cards, home decor, etc., the papers all reminded me of the blessings God has bestowed upon me.

Have a wonderful day!  Thank you for visiting!

I made this pretty Wedding Card using my trusty Sizzix bride and groom Sizzlets, a rose stamp and card stock.

Inside of the card I included the Scripture verse "Love is patient, love is kind ..." that I have on a Stampabilities stamp.

Good morning!

Papercrafting scrapbook pages & cards today!

Continuing our "Let's Get Scrapping!" project, I've decided to scrapbook photos from a visit to Chesapeke Bay with my daughter and little grand-daughter (snuggled in baby carrier).  Photos have been printed on my trusty Kodak printer, and 12 x 12 papers and embellishments are being selected for the layouts.

How are you doing on your papercrafting project(s)?

Along with our "Let's Get Scrapping" journey, I'm putting together some graduation cards to be given over the next few weeks. I used my Sizzix to cut the diplomas and mortarboards.  I'll add personalization and 2015 on each.  Here they are in progress--you can pretty well tell they're for 3 guys and 1 girl.

Along with finishing these cards and scrapbooking my Chesapeke Bay photos, I'll be designing and making cards for an upcoming wedding, anniversaries, and a slew of birthdays in the next few days.

Happy papercrafting!  Thank you for stopping by,
Gayle

Let's Get Scrapping!

Let's Get Scrapping!

Ice Cream Embellishments are made with the June Stamp of the Month Set -- regularly $17.95, only $5 with $50 purchase through June 30, 2015.  Set #S1506 -- order at papercraftingwithgayle.ctmh.com
The photos are piling up -- an envelope here, a shoe-box there, not to mention the photos on the camera and in the computer.  It's time to get these photos sorted, identified and placed in scrapbooks to enjoy.  Let's get started!

Whether you have a dozen, a hundred, or -- gulp -- thousand(s) of photos calling your name, you can enjoy the art of scrapbooking and the lifelong results.  Gather the photos and sort into a system that works for you.  This could be chronologically, by individuals, activities or events.  For your actual photos in the hand, make sure you use photo-save envelopes or storage boxes to hold your precious memories.  If you have some strangers in your boxes, ask family and friends to help identify the mystery guest -- it just might be great-grandma when she was a young girl, or great-grandpa before he went off to war.

You will be using the same sorting strategies for your digital photos, except saving in virtual files and folders on the computer and back-ups on discs.

Creating a scrapbook is done one page at a time with these basic steps.

One:  Select your photos.

Two:  Select complimentary papers -- these can be either solids or patterned papers.  Just make sure the papers are compatible and will compliment your photos.

Three:  Crop your photos (copies please!)  Do you really need to have the clothes basket in the picture of your daughter blowing out her birthday candles?

Four:  Arrange the photos and adhere.

Five:  Add journaling.  Yes, you do not want your photos to have an identity crisis.

Six:  Embellish for the finishing touch.

You are now on your way to transforming a blank book into a cherished heirloom to be passed from generation to generation documenting the history of your family.  I'll keep you posted on my progress -- let me know about you!

Until later, keep scrapping!  Gayle
